Pop-up Description: When the cursor passes over a marker for an annotated region a descriptive pop-up note with appear containing the following information:
  • Gene name
  • Location (start and stop)
  • Gain (name of the strain if the gene was gained at the strain level; Lassen, Yellowstone, or M-sub if the gene was gained at the populaiton level; North America or Mutnovsky if the gene was gained at the regional level; and - if there is no gain
  • Loss (name of the strain if the gene was lost at the strain level; Lassen, Yellowstone, or M-sub if the gene was lost at the populaiton level; North America or Mutnovsky if the gene was lost at the regional level; and - if there is no loss
  • Distibution by genome (the number of homologous copies of a gene found in the different strains of S. islandicus and S. solfataricus

Track Description: Annotation tracks can be turned on or off by adjusting the check boxes below in the "Tracks" section then clicking the "Update Image" button.
  • Core genes
  • genes found in all seven of the sequenced S. islandicus genomes
  • Gained genes
    • genes that have been gained at some point in that strain's evolutionary lineage
  • Lost genes
    • genes that have been lost at some point during another strain's lineage
  • Multiple Events
    • gene that have been gained at some point in that strains evolutionary lineage but also lost in another strain
  • Pseudogenes
    • genes that have been annotated as pseudogenes
  • DNA/GC Content
    • graph of the GC content where the window size is equal to 1% of the selected interval
  • CRISPR
    • regions annotated as CRISPR repeats
  • ncRNA
    • genes that code for non-translated RNAs
  • tRNA
    • genes that code for transfer RNAs
  • rRNA
    • genes that code for ribosomal RNAs
    • Annotation set
      • an all-inculsive annotation track
